FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Coconut Prebiotic Fiber?

CocoFib is a prebiotic supplement for capsulation and food-ingredient:

CocoFib is a Prebiotic. It is a pre-hydrolyzed coconut-flour and an excellent source of dietary fiber that can be fermented in the colon into short-chain fatty acids (SFCA) such as acetate, propionate and butyrate. Those SFCA contribute not only in the physiological benefits of the human gut but also in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, obesity and diabetes mellitus. Because CocoFib is an excellent source of dietary-fiber, after consumption, its action is to slow-down the release of glucose in our blood therefore prevent ing the shoot-up of glucose that may cause diabetes mellitus and obesity. The glucose shoot-up in the blood may convert some glucose into fat such as triglycerides, thus may be converted to cholesterol or stored in our tissues while some of it may stay in our circulation. These has significant roles in the development of chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases.

What is the scientific definition of a Prebiotic?

In 1995, Glenn Gibson and Marcel Roberfroid introduced the prebiotic concept. They defined a prebiotic as ‘a nondigestible food ingredient that beneficially affects the host by selectively stimulating the growth and/or activity of one or a limited number of bacteria in the colon, and thus improves host health.

Is Coconut Prebiotic Fiber a Prebiotic?

Coconut Prebiotic Fiber is a Prebiotic. It is Mannooligosaccharides (MOS) produced from hydrolization of Galactomannan (carbohydrate – soluble fiber-) of coconut flour.

How much fiber-dosage is recommended daily?

25-30 Grams for a dult is the recommended daily intake for fibers.

Are there any side-effects when consuming too much fiber?

Consuming too much fiber, especially soluble-fiber, that will ferment rapidly in the gut, (such as Inulin) will create bloating, diarrhea and flatulences. Those side effects are virtually non-existent with Coconut Prebiotic Fiber.

What are the functions of Coconut Prebiotic Fiber?

CocoFib is a MOS prebiotic: the hydrolization of the Galactomana of coconut defatted-meals (coconut-flour) produces Mannooligosacharride. It enhances growth of good bacteria in our intestinal flora.

CocoFib is a coconut dietary-fiber supported with exo-acting isolated, purified, targeted enzyme that degrade the cell wall matrix of dietary-fiber of coconut flour, and releases the trapped nutrient dense fibers, protein, fats and make them readily available for use/utilize.

CocoFib insoluble-fiber ferments slowly in the gut to produce a higher amount of “short chain fatty acids” (SCFA).

What is the role of MOS?

MOS mimics the properties of the cells on the gut wall to attract and bind with harmful bacteria. Rather than allowing the pathogen bacteria to attach to the gut wall, the MOS acts as a sticky sponge, clearing up the harmful bacteria and removing them from the digestive system.

How can you support the claims about Coconut Prebiotic Fiber?

We have been conducting in-vivo and in-vitro clinical-trials in the Philippines, where we develop and produce CocoFib.

A White-paper will be published in January 2020 with the functional results of CocoFib on human subjects:

Those are the Results of the clinical tests and the functional benefits:

  • It helps to reduce Glycemic Index (GI)
  • It helps to lower Cholesterol synthesis
  • Prevents the risk of obesity and diabetes mellitus
  • Prevents the risk of Coronary and Cardiovascular diseases
  • Contains digestive enzymes for fundamental digestive support

What are the other unique benefits we can we get from Coconut Prebiotic FIber?

  • Free of Phytic Acid that bind to minerals – supports mineral absorption
  • Excellent source of unique Prebiotics – a food source for Probiotics
  • Improves digestion and regularity and boosts immunity
  • Cocofib keeps energy levels steady and stable

What are SCFA (Short-Chain Fatty Acid)?

There are three SCFA: Acetate is a good source of energy that promotes the slow release of glucose, which prevents sudden spikes in our blood streams. Propionate goes to the liver which inhibits the enzymes in cholesterol synthesis and acts like the Simvastatin. its regulates the cholesterol production. Butyrate helps in maintaining and strengthening our intestinal walls, and preventing leaky guts and other colon related diseases.

Can Coconut Prebiotic Fiber cause diarrhea?

Consuming too much fiber, especially soluble-fiber, that will ferment rapidly in the gut, (such as Inulin) will create bloating, diarrhea and flatulences. Those side effects are virtually non-existent with CocoFib. Also, CocoFib has a prebiotic effect that supports the growth of the microbiome (gut-flora) in the digestive system.

Why do I need Prebiotics?

If you have a diet poor in fiber, and you have chronic constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating and very low energy-level, you will need Prebiotics to feed your good bacteria, support your gut-health, maintain and strengthen your intestinal walls, and prevent leaky guts.

Is Coconut Prebiotic FIber a natural product?

Coconut Prebiotic Fiber’s ingredients are Organic coconut-flour and a proprietary enzyme (CocoZyme). Our process is hydrolization, hence a very simple and minimal technology. Cocofib is certified GM-free, Soy-free, Corn-free, Dairy-free, Gluten-free, Good for Vegan, Kosher, Organic.

Why Coconut Prebiotic Fiber benefits are better than other Prebiotics and Fibers?

Cocofib is a Prebiotic from pre-hydrolyzed coconut-flour and an excellent source of dietary fiber. It is fermented in the colon to produce short-chain fatty acid (SCFA).

One of those SCFA, Butyrate, helps in maintaining and strengthening our intestinal walls, and prevent leaky guts and other colon related diseases.

As the Probiotics eat away the Prebiotics, beneficial probiotics multiply and out-number the pathogens in the exclusion process, when pathogen bacteria are starved while beneficial bacteria increase in number, making our colon healthy.

Using CocoFib helps in regular excretion or bowel movement.

Many Prebiotics supplements products on the market help to deal with symptoms, like constipation and heartburn, only masking the source of the digestive problem with temporary relief.

CocoFib Prebiotic helps to re-balance your system and cure your digestive problems.

CocoFib Prebiotic intake doesn’t lead to excess gas, bloating or cramping that other Prebiotics (such as Inulin) and fibers supplements may cause.

Cocofib Prebiotic function is not just removing wastes from body. It supports the health and balance of the whole body and produces short-chain fatty acid (SCFA). Acetate is good source of energy, which prevents sudden spikes in our blood sugar. Propionate regulates the cholesterol production. Butyrate is the main fuel for the cells that line the gut, providing up to 90% of their energy requirements. Contributing in the prevention of colorectal cancer.

SFCA produced from CocoFib Prebiotics in Gastrointestinal tract (GI) also reduce the GI’s Ph level, thus killing pathogens bacteria, enhancing the absorption of nutrients and positively impacting the gut microbiota composition.

SCFA at high concentration also serve as a carbon source for gut microbiota.

Cocofib serving-size is therefore lower than other Prebiotics, with greater effectiveness.

Cocofib Prebiotics Fiber is free from a naturally occuring compound in many high-fiber foods, called Phytic acid. Present in high-fiber foods, Phytic acid binds to minerals like magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron and zinc, preventing their absorption. By being naturally Phytic acid-free, Cocofib Prebiotics Fiber allows you to maximise mineral absorption and meet your daily Fiber needs.

Can Coconut Prebiotic Fiber be used as a Food ingredient?

Coconut Prebiotic Fiber can be used as an ingredient for Food preparation and formulation for temperatures below 40 degrees Celsius such as yoghurt, ice creams and beverages.
